Vote For Your Favorite Recipe

The prestigious annual culinary event in America called GASCO or Great American Seafood Cook-Off was held in New Orleans on Aug 2 and 3. This year was its fifth event and they were 50 top level chefs from across the country competed to cook off. They prepared seafood dishes using fresh domestic seafood and showcased the best culinary products from their state.

The cook off competition is over but there is another contest called “People’s Choice Recipe Contest” at its site. Now it’s our turn to vote our favorite recipe from GASCO chef finalists. Just click one from the five finalist’s recipes that you think is the most interesting, easy and exciting for you to cook at your home. By entering a vote you can win a "Trip to New Orleans" prize. This package is including two Southwest Airline roundtrip tickets, hotel accommodations, dining experiences and more. The best thing is there is no purchase necessary to enter your vote, and the deadline for online entries is on October 31, 2008, so that you still have time to try to cook off the recipes and feel the taste of top chef’s dishes at your home.

My favorite recipe from this contest is “Mississippi Redfish Courtboullion with Seafood Dirty Rice” by Chef John Currence from Mississippi. The most interesting is the way it served; the chef used clay pot instead of plate. Rice is my family main food and we love sea food a lot, so it’s good to know that the dish is served over the rice. So what is your favorite recipe? Don’t forget to visit GreatAmericanSeafoodCookOff.com and enter your vote to win the prize.

Alzheimer’s Memory Walk 2008

I know Alzheimer’s disease is one of the serious illnesses in the world although I don’t have any family member who affected with this. Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative disease of the brain, which causes thinking and memory to become seriously impaired. Two proven risk factors for Alzheimer's disease are age and family history. According to the research, ten percent of people over 65 years of age and half of those over 85 years of age have Alzheimer's disease. And according to the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the U.S and at every 71 seconds, someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Can you imagine that?

The largest event called Alzheimer's Memory Walk will be held to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. More than 600 communities will held this Memory Walk and over 200,000 people will participate this year. It is a 2-3 miles walk held on a weekend morning in the fall. So if you want to participate in this event, please visit the site and see if there is a walk near your place.

Fright of Barbie Dolls: Normal or Nuts?

My sister always screams out loud and runs like crazy every time she sees Barbie doll, I don’t know why, because she never want to tell me. When I was little, my brothers and I often made fun of it just to see her screaming and we were laughing so loud. Now she has two daughters and never bought them Barbie doll. Can you imagine, girls without Barbie dolls? Finally, their Grandma bought them the dolls, but in one condition, they should play it only in their room and before they want to play it, they must tell her mother first, so that she won’t enter the room. We often ask her: Are You Normal or Nuts?

Well, have other people asked you the same question? or maybe you often ask it to yourself about your quirks. If the answer is “Yes”, you should post your quirky question on Reader's Digest's new “Advice & Know-How” article titled “Are You Normal or Nuts?" And get to know the answer from the psychological experts.
Here you can read other’s quirky questions and find out the answer. I found one that interesting. It’s about a person who always uses things until they wear out before getting new ones. Actually, I do the same. Some friends suggest me to spoil myself, but I think it is good not to waste our money to buy things that we don’t need. What about you?

100 posts

Finally, I have wrote 100 posts in this blog.. horayy.. maybe for some people it is nothing, but for me it means something. I still remember when the first time I made this blog, I was so confused on what should I write. I'm not used to write and at that time writing is not my hobby. But after blogging for few months, I started to feel the excitement and browsing other's blog give me more information and knowledge about everything, and sometimes about something that beyond my imagination. But of course, we shouldn't 100% believe about it.
Through blogging, I have more friends from around the world and it seems no gap and no limitation among us. I feel that we are one nation, the nation of "Bloggers"

Use Your Credit Card Wisely

Lately credit cards have already been a part of modern life style. And it seems cannot be separated from our daily life. Credit card is the most practice way of payment. We mustn’t bring lot of cash everywhere, because almost every store accepts payment with credit card.
There are many companies that offer many kinds of credit cards with various benefits, such as point rewards, discount, prizes and many more. Applying credit card is very easy and you can do it on-line these days, but don’t be too persuaded with their all “sweet promises”, you should choose which is the most suitable with your needs and the most important is that best fit with your financial condition.

Credit cards can be your enemy if you didn’t use it wisely. Sometimes people are spending more than he/she can afford, especially if he/she has more than one card. Please remember that using credit card means that you have to pay all the money you have spent PLUS the monthly interest.
Using credit card reminds me of Rebecca Bloomwood in the Sophie Kinsella’s books, titled “Confessions of a Shopaholic”. She is a financial journalist who has exceeded all of her credit card bills because of her addiction to shop and she really can’t afford to pay all of it.
Well, if you don’t want to be like Becky, please use your credit cards wisely.

CheeseCake

When I was dreaming of delicious cheesecake, suddenly in the next day my sister came after her trip to out town and brought me cheesecake. I poured blueberry sauce on it, and blueberry cheesecakes are ready to eat... yummy..!!!
Thanks God for to be so generous to us.
